Easy Homemade Frozen Dog Treats made with Watermelon and Yogurt
Summer is here (woohoo!!), and with the scorching temperatures, we’re all looking for ways to keep cool and refreshed. But let’s not forget about our four-legged friends who deserve a little extra TLC during the hot days. I’m excited to share a delicious and healthy treat that your pup will absolutely adore: Easy Homemade Frozen Dog Treats made with Watermelon and Yogurt!
Despite this picture, my pup Ollie is not a big fan of watermelon. In fact, he just sort of held this piece of watermelon in his mouth for a few moments (long enough for us to snap this adorable picture) and then spit it right back out. But Ollie absolutely loves ice cubes so I thought I’d give this recipe a try.
Easy Homemade Frozen Dog Treats made with Watermelon and Yogurt
Equipment
- Blender or food processor
- Silicone molds or ice cube trays
- Baking sheet
- Airtight container for storage
Ingredients
- 1 cup seedless watermelon, diced
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, with no sugar added
Instructions
- Cut the watermelon into small, bite-sized pieces.
- Blend the watermelon in a blender until you achieve a puree-like consistency. (I don't have a blender so I used our NutriBullet and it worked great)
- Add the plain yogurt to the puree-like watermelon and blend together until smooth.
- Prep the silicone molds by first placing them on a baking sheet for easy transfer to the freezer.
- Pour the watermelon yogurt mixture into silicone ice cube molds or ice cube trays.
- Place the molds or ice cube trays in the freezer and let them chill for at least 4 hours, or until the treats are completely frozen.
- Once the treats are solid, pop them out of the molds or ice cube trays and store them in an airtight container in the freezer. These treats can last for up to 7 days in an airtight container.
You can serve these treats as a refreshing snack during hot afternoons, or use them as a reward during training sessions. Not only will they keep your pup hydrated, but they also offer essential vitamins and minerals from the watermelon and the probiotics from the yogurt, promoting good gut health.
With these Watermelon & Yogurt Easy Homemade Frozen Dog Treats on hand, you and your furry friend can stay cool, refreshed, and happy all summer long. This simple and delicious recipe will undoubtedly become your pup’s new favorite snack!

A Few Pup Tips:
- Always check with your veterinarian before introducing new treats into your pup’s diet, especially if they have any dietary restrictions or allergies.
- If your pup is sensitive to dairy, you can substitute the yogurt with coconut milk or a lactose-free alternative.
- Remember that treats should be given in moderation, as they should complement your pup’s balanced diet and not replace their regular meals.
